What is Keel?
Keel is a governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platform built for small and mid-sized teams working toward their first — or their next — security attestation. It brings the whole program into one place so you can get audit-ready and prove it, without a dedicated GRC department.
The core idea
Section titled “The core idea”Compliance work is mostly the same handful of jobs repeated across frameworks: decide what you’re going to do (controls), do it, and keep proof that you did (evidence). Keel organizes your program around a single control library and then maps those controls to every framework they satisfy. You do the work once and get credit everywhere it applies.
What’s in the platform
Section titled “What’s in the platform”- Controls & readiness — Your control library, each with a status you set (not started, in progress, implemented, gap, or not applicable). Your readiness score is the share of in-scope framework requirements covered by an implemented control.
- Frameworks & crosswalks — Apply a framework and Keel seeds a curated, pre-mapped control set for it. One control can satisfy requirements across many frameworks at once. See Frameworks & crosswalks.
- Evidence — Upload artifacts, attach them to the controls they support, and track freshness so nothing goes stale before an audit. See Evidence.
- Policies — A library of 50+ framework-mapped policy templates you tailor, approve, version, and export as branded PDFs — or draft with AI and import your own. See Policies.
- Risk register — A living register with likelihood × impact scoring, treatments, and owners.
- Vendor risk — Track third parties by criticality with review cadences so nothing you depend on goes unreviewed.
- People & access reviews — Sync your staff from Microsoft Entra ID, Google Workspace, or CSV, then certify access with keep/revoke/modify decisions recorded as evidence.
- Trust Center — A public page that shows your posture, policies, subprocessors, and updates. See Trust Center.
- AI tools — Credit-metered assistants across every module: implementation guidance, evidence summaries, policy drafting and gap analysis, questionnaire help, readiness summaries, and more. See AI tools & credits.
- API & MCP — A REST API, webhooks, and a Model Context Protocol server so you can automate Keel and connect your own AI agents and tools. See API & MCP.
Who it’s for
Section titled “Who it’s for”Keel suits SaaS and technology companies, fintechs, healthcare providers, manufacturers running quality and security side by side, e-commerce teams handling card data, and the MSPs and consultancies who manage many clients’ programs from one console.
